This is going to be a bit unusual for me as I was asked to talk about email marketing to a group of new publishers in the tabletop gaming industry. I try to save this space more for sampel emails I write but I thought because this was an opportunity I think is special I wouold share some thoughts here. After all how many people get to teach some email marketing to people who make game? Since I could myself very lucky I will share some of my thoughts here.

  1. Email marketing my be the highest ROI channel out there but very few companies use it consistently or effectively.
  2. Many believe that email should be free so they don’t invest very much in email marketing or the right people to do it.
  3. Companies don’t consider that their emails have to be a mix of information and entertainment.
  4. Too many images and links kill a sales email campaign so companies don’t understand the difference between sales emails and general newsletters.

These are some points that I would like to bring up in my panel. I think if I could inform and make it fun that maybe some fo those publishers will listen. I donp’t have much time to talk about my topic but witht he time I do have I want to touch on each of these points to prevent some terrible mistakes that tabletop publishers make with their email marketing campaigns.

Hopefully I will do this successfully after all as nerd who like tabletop games and is on some fo these email lists. I want to get better emails.
