Teaching Email Marketing

colorful image of me
This is going to be a bit unusual for me as I was asked to talk about email marketing to a group of new publishers in the tabletop gaming industry. I try to save this space more for sampel emails I write but I thought because this was an opportunity I think is special I wouold share some thoughts here. After all how many people get to teach some email marketing to people who make game? Since I could myself very lucky I will share some of my thoughts here.
- Email marketing my be the highest ROI channel out there but very few companies use it consistently or effectively.
- Many believe that email should be free so they don’t invest very much in email marketing or the right people to do it.
- Companies don’t consider that their emails have to be a mix of information and entertainment.
- Too many images and links kill a sales email campaign so companies don’t understand the difference between sales emails and general newsletters.
These are some points that I would like to bring up in my panel. I think if I could inform and make it fun that maybe some fo those publishers will listen. I donp’t have much time to talk about my topic but witht he time I do have I want to touch on each of these points to prevent some terrible mistakes that tabletop publishers make with their email marketing campaigns.
Hopefully I will do this successfully after all as nerd who like tabletop games and is on some fo these email lists. I want to get better emails.
